About the Project

LaceUp4Lupus was born simply out of my love for running and my mantra "Run because you Can".  Four years ago I experienced the severity of this disease and having a glimpse into life without running is what motivates me to push forward.  Knowing that there are people who suffer daily from the complication of Lupus and who aren't able to do what I am able to do keeps me going. It is for this reason that I chose to commit myself to a fundraising project for Lupus Canada as I gear up for the Vancouver Marathon on May 6th, 2012.
A May marathon was a perfect fit, since Lupus Canada runs their National Fundraising Campaign that month and Lupus Awareness Day is May 10. All the stars were aligning and seemed to be pointing me towards the start line.

This project is really about people - People living with this disease and the people who support them. By committing yourself to a run or walk this spring you will be making a statement to those you love that you are here to support them!

This blog will be a place where you can follow along on my training, get some tips for fundraing along with some general advice on training and healthy living. I look forward to every step of it.
